This Fern plate is a split pair showing the positive and negative of an irregularly shaped 2 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide fern fossil. This fern is from the world renowned Mazon Creek deposits of Illinois. They are often found in broken ironstone nodules near the abandoned coal mine dumps. Sometimes they are found broken open exhibiting only half of the fossil.
