This exceptionally detailed cystoid from the famous Silurian Rochester Shale beds of Caleb’s Quarry in Middleport New York.

This cystoid is on a massive shale block measuring 9 1/2 inches by 6 inches and 1 inch thick to add to the stability of this magnificent echinoderm.  The 1 x 3/4 inch theca shows exceptional detail and the plates are highly intricate.  Also exhibiting nine brachials or arms with fine detail, down to many of the pinnules.  The largest brachial is 3 inches long.  The stem is 3 5/8 inches long.
